EV Charging Overview

Most failed EV projects fail at the incoming supply, not the charge point. Before quoting hardware we assess your existing load, headroom and board capacity, and tell you honestly whether the site supports the number of bays you want.

Where capacity is tight, load management lets several bays share an available supply rather than triggering a costly DNO upgrade. Where an upgrade is genuinely needed, we handle the application rather than leaving it with you.

Installations cover workplace car parks, fleet depots, holiday parks, hotels and residential developments, with back-office options for access control, usage reporting and billing.

Real charge rates depend on the vehicle’s on-board charger — many cars cap at 7.4kW or 11kW regardless of the unit fitted.

Bay count, vehicle types, dwell time and future expansion assessed alongside the electrical supply.

Layout drawing, cable routes, load strategy and a fixed price including groundworks.

Standards

EV charging installations are covered by BS 7671 Section 722, which sets requirements for protective devices, earthing arrangements (including PEN fault detection) and RCD protection specific to charge points. Workplace installations also fall under the Electricity at Work Regulations for ongoing maintenance.
