Hospitality has the hardest compliance calendar of any sector we work in. The systems are extensive — sleeping risk fire detection, escape lighting, kitchen suppression, extensive CCTV — and the windows to work on them are narrow, seasonal and commercially expensive.
We plan around that rather than against it. Wing-by-wing phasing on alarm upgrades, shoulder-season programmes for larger works, and night working where a public area cannot be closed during the day.
Sleeping risk raises the stakes on fire detection specifically. Coverage, cause and effect, and evacuation strategy all need to be right, and the servicing regime needs to be genuinely twice-yearly rather than notionally so.
Addressable fire alarm upgrade for a 94-bedroom hotel
Phased wing-by-wing replacement kept the hotel trading throughout the programme, with monitoring and a twice-yearly service agreement handed over on completion.
